Chinese Craftsmanship in the Eyes of Arab Youth
Today, four young Arabs (Maria, Senna, Wang De, and Sweet) from Jordan and Morocco guide us through the realm of Chinese arts and crafts, searching for the Silk Road's exchanges and civilizations。
They admired Chinese ceramics, sculpture, lacquer painting, needlework, cloth art, cloisonné, and other traditional arts and crafts, as well as the paintings of Zhang Songmao and Wang Xiliang in the Nanchang Chinese Arts and Crafts Masters Museum. They marveled at the exquisite Chinese arts and crafts, the wisdom of traditional craftsmen, and the profound Chinese traditional culture as they lingered in front of Zhang Minhui's bone carving, in which everything is vivid ranging from figures, animals, landscapes, birds to buildings, lanterns, and dragon boats, hoping that these exquisite Chinese crafts could go global。
They can't help but pause in front of Xiong Jianxin's lacquer painting, in which the exquisite, modest Huizhou-style architecture, rippling wheat, and aromatic fruits highlight people's prosperous lives. ‘One night the wind brings autumn lights. And at the beginning of Autumn, abundant grains are basked in’; the rice fields are filled with wheat waves, fragrant melons, and abundant fruits. The fiery red chili peppers, yellow-orange pumpkins, and purple eggplants are basked in by farmers, creating a refreshing and pleasant life。
Xiong Jianxin took the four young Arabs to Nanchang Hangkong University's master workshop, where they were interested in learning how lacquer painting is done by piling up lacquer lines, inlaying, filling, grinding, and over-dyeing to express the infinite poetic charm of Jiangnan's waterfront。(南昌航空大學(xué) 謝華)
